The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck
I recently read The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life and it is a good book to read to give yourself a reality check in knowing that everyone is dealing with their own issues all the time in different measures as well as what you can do to make your life the way you want it. Here are some of the takeaways from the book:
- Suffering and pain is a part of life; there is no such life full of pleasure
- There will be continual problems
- Figuring out which problems and what suffering to endure is the key to prioritizing your life for the better and to sustain happiness over time
- The process of achieving the goal is riddled with pain and suffering. Most people are fixated on the goal and basking in the glory of it, but the path to get there they do not want to struggle and endure
- The joy is in climbing the mountain, not reaching the top.
- Not everyone is going to be extraordinary otherwise extraordinary would not exist
- Devoting yourself wholly to your choice of suffering makes it bearable, but once that reason no longer exists then it became unbearable
- Death is inevitable and brings to light that while life is short we should take action because not taking action will lead to the same result so why not take action?
