1. Engage in Head Massages
If you find that there are some parts of your scalp that have less hair, try out the simple practice of gently massaging the area. Doing this consistently encourages hair growth through increased blood circulation.
2. Undergo Frequent Trims
It seems counterintuitive to cut your hair often when you want to grow it out to be longer, but there’s a method to the madness. Trimming your hair on a frequent basis prevents the accumulation of split ends and maintains the health of your hair. On a personal note, this was one of the more noticeable ways that actually led to my hair growing out very quickly.
3. Increase Your Collagen Intake
Collagen applied topically does not lead to building new collagen in your skin. However, ingesting collagen, does help improve your skin’s production of collagen. Most importantly on the topic of hair, it provides the amino acid building blocks that form the protein keratin which makes up the hair.
4. Have a Better Diet
A diet rich in omegas, vitamin C, and antioxidants is not only great in maintaining the health of your body for the long-term, but it also contributes to the specific bonus of stronger, healthier hair. Think salmon, oranges, and berries. Vitamin C helps to boost collagen production in turn improving hair growth and quality.
5. Avoid Heat Damage
Seek heatless styling options whenever possible. Applying high heat to your hair through the use of hair-styling tools breaks down the keratin proteins leading to that awful hair dryness. It also causes split ends and frizziness which impedes the work you’ve done to have healthy and long hair. With the abundance of new and novel ways to style hair these days, heat is no longer needed, but if you must, try to either avoid using very high temperatures or apply a heat protectant before going in with high heat.
