This is one of those philosophical questions that spurs a lot of divided opinions, some wanting to be equipped with the knowledge and others preferring to live in blissful ignorance. The Measure by Nikki Erlick explores this thought-provoking question in a beautifully written fictional world where everyone receives a box containing a string revealing how long their lifespan is. Having this insight splits the world and the book follows people from various walks of life and the choices they make after receiving the box. This novel is one of those books that quickly made its way to the top of the best books I have ever read and I highly encourage everyone to read it!
