PSA: Kidney Beans Are Poisonous Unless You Cook Them the Right Way!

I read a post about this and wanted to share in case you didn’t know. When cooking kidney beans, you must boil them for at least 10 minutes to neutralize the natural toxin phytohaemagglutinin. If you don’t do this, you may suffer food poisoning experiencing nausea, dizziness, vomiting, or diarrhea!

Other beans that require this special care are white kidney beans (aka cannellini beans), broad beans (a.k.a. fava beans), and Great Northern beans.
