Using a round-bristle toilet brush and toilet disinfectant was once the common approach to properly clean toilets. The problem is not in the process but afterwards in cleaning and storing the brush. Since it was soaked in water, it can’t simply be placed back in the toilet brush holder otherwise it will likely become moldy. Add to that, using the brush to clean underneath the toilet rim is difficult to adequately get all the surfaces.

Enter disposable toilet cleaning pads. Once I switched over to using these, I haven’t looked back! It is so much more convenient and hygienic. Plus there is more flexibility to scrub all the surface areas with a more nimble cleaning agent compared to the traditional toilet brush. And once you deem the job done, a simple release mechanism disposes of the pad into the trash can! Repeat the next week with a new refill.

I personally use the Clorox Toilet Wand Cleaning System. There are also many alternative brands out there offering similar products so do shop around. Most importantly, consider whether upgrading to this approach fits within your lifestyle!
